Dersin Amacı
|
Dersin amacı felsefe öğrencilerine Fârâbî sistemli ve tutarlı bir İslam felsefesi birikimi kazandırmaktır.

Dersin İçeriği
|
Bu ders ileri seviyedeki öğrencilere Fârâbî'nin temel eseri Medinetu'l Fazıla'nın yakın bir okuması aracılığıyla onun felsefi düşüncesini aktarmayı amaçlar. Ayrıca ders Fârâbî'nin bu metni aracılığıyla klasik İslam felsefesinin temel konularını inceler. Derste işlenen temel konular metafizik, varlık felsefesi, kozmoloji, epistemoloji, nefs ilmi, ahlak ve siyaset felsefesidir. Fârâbî'yi felsefenin temel meseleleri ve bugünün konuları hakkında ne söylediği bağlamında inceleyeceğiz. Dolayısıyla bu ders disiplinler arası bir yaklaşımla planlanmıştır. Öğrencilerin metnin detaylı bir okumasını ikincil literatürden destek alarak yapmaları beklenir.

I expect you to write two academic papers, one midterm and one final. The papers are meant to be 5-6 pages and 7-8 pages, respectively. While the subjects for both papers should be related to al-Farabi, you are free to explore any aspect that interests you within this realm.
