Objectives of the Course
|
This course is an applied research methods course that prepares the graduate student for the thesis process. The skills of defining a limited research problem, developing a research question and a defensible claim, scanning and analyzing the literature in a systematic way, selecting and justifying the method suitable for the study and writing and presenting the result in accordance with the rules of academic form are gained.

Course Content
|
The center of gravity of the course is law-specific methods: legal dogmatics and interpretation methods, case law analysis and comparative law method; the basic designs and boundaries of empirical legal research are discussed at an influsing level. The four weeks of the period are devoted to literature review; in two of these weeks, the use of reference management programs, especially Zotero, is taught in practice. In addition, the transparent and verifiable use of artificial intelligence tools with research and publication ethics is processed.

Course Methods and Techniques
|
The main product of the course is to rewrite a study prepared by the student during the year in accordance with the Ibn Haldun University Graduate Thesis Writing Directive. This assignment is presented in class in the last weeks of the semester, and each student prepares a peer evaluation report on a friend ` s assignment. Thus, the student both learns the rules of academic form practically and gains critical evaluation and arbitration practice.
