Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to provide the students to have knowledge about cheques; to comprehend the legal nature and functioning of the cheque, which is the most preferred negotiable instrument in practice.
Course Content This course includes; Definition, basic features and legal nature of cheque, theories of negotiable instruments, elements of cheque, records that can and cannot be put on the cheque, forward dated cheque, classification of negotiable instruments according to the form of transfer and application of transfer rules in cheque, defences that the drawer can assert in the cheque, Periods of submission and payment of cheque, bouncing of cheque, consequences of bouncing of cheque, emergence of the right of application in cheque and responsibility of application debtors, loss and cancellation of cheque, statute of limitations in cheque, general review; subjects.

Course Notes In this course, the basic legal regulations regarding cheques, which is a type of negotiable instrument, will be examined, and the concept of cheque, issuance of cheque, circulation of cheque, payment of cheque and the consequences of non-payment of cheque will be discussed. In addition, legislative studies on electronic cheques will be examined.
