Objectives of the Course This course aims that graduate students, who are trainees of being a qualified clinical psychologist, will be able:
1. To have a clear and detailed conception of theoretical background and perception of CBT approach, which is expected to be used by them during their clinical supervision as a part of their graduate education, (KNOWLEDGE)
2. To enhance their knowledge about application areas and techniques of CBT approach in clinical settings in a detailed way, (KNOWLEDGE)
3. To adopt CBT approach and to have a clear conception of its similarities with and differences from other therapy approaches, and hence to produce new knowledge on how to use this approach in solving different kinds of psychological problems, (SKILLS/COGNITIVE)
4. To apply the theoretical knowledge and techniques learnt in the course on their daily life problems, (SKILLS/APPLIED)
5. In times of necessity, to properly apply the knowledge learnt in the course on solving various kinds of psychological problems faced with in clinical settings. (SKILLS/APPLIED, CAPABILITY)
Course Content Historical development of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and its philosophical roots, theory of personality, psychopathology approach and the way it uses in psychotherapy is thaught. During the course essential concepts and principles of CBT, the way it uses in conceptualization of psychological problems, and its treatment techniques, therapy process and organization of sessions will be explored in detail. Although this course is heavily oriented towards theory, it is encouraged for students to use techniques thaught during the course in their daily lives.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1 Students who are completed this course successfully become able to ; interpret and discuss the historical development of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach and its theoretical background and philosophy, and the model it proposes for the development and solution of psychological problems.
2 Apply the CBT approach in a clinical setting, organize and manage the sessions, conceptualize and explain the problems encountered to the client, and use the appropriate techniques of the approach.
3 Compare similarities and differences of this approach to other psychotherapy approaches.
4 Explain etiology and development of psychological problems to other people by using the conceptualization of this approach.
5 Apply the basic techniques of this approach on their daily life problems and problems faced with in clinical setting, and can design a therapy process by choosing appropriate techniques.
6 Formulate appropriate treatment suggestions that can be applied to different situations and different cultures by clearly understanding basic principles and perspective of the approach, and develop new ideas built on local techniques that are suitable to this approach.
