Objectives of the Course This course aims to understand the historical, sociological, and legal foundations of the state, analyze the structure and functions of the modern state, and examine key theories of state theory. Students will learn to comprehend the operation of modern state structures by addressing the historical development of the state and concepts like sovereignty, law, authority, and legitimacy.
Course Content The historical origins of the concept of the state, concepts of sovereignty, authority, and legitimacy, the relationship between law and the state, the fundamental functions and institutions of the state, crises and critiques of the modern state, and different theories of the state such as liberal, socialist, and anarchist approaches.
