Objectives of the Course
|
PERS 307 is devised for students who would like acquire basic communicative competence in modern Persian. Based on elementary knowledge of grammar, lexis, and phonology, this course aims to teach how to understand and to some extent engage in everyday communication.

Course Content
|
The course aims to develop student's their basic-level listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and to do that it incorporates a variety of activities and drills including dialogues, reading texts, role plays, language games, grammar and phonetic exercises, dictations, and translations, interviews, and discussion of topics.

Course Methods and Techniques
|
The primary teaching method in the course will be presentation (direct instruction). In addition, various techniques and methods such as questioning, discussion, discovery (inductive learning), dramatization, and problem-solving will be used to help students apply the grammatical structures covered in the course.
