Objectives of the Course PERS 302 is devised for students who would like to acquire upper elementary communicative competence in modern Persian. It aims to teach how to understand and to some extent, engage in everyday communication of the language by developing their basic-level listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Course Content To improve the essential communicative skills in modern Persian, students will engage with various activities ranging from daily conversations to reading, listening, and wrtihing numerous texts highlighted on weekly schedule.
Course Methods and Techniques The primary teaching method in the course will be presentation (direct instruction). In addition, various techniques and methods such as questioning, discussion, discovery (inductive learning), dramatization, and problem-solving will be used to help students apply the grammatical structures covered in the course.

Recommended or Required Reading

Course Notes In addition to routine assignments, performance tasks will be assigned by the course instructor throughout the semester. These performance tasks will account for 10% of the final grade.

Assignments These assignments may take the form of presentations, written work, or videos, and students are expected to submit them by Tuesday of each week. They will contribute 10% to the final grade. Weekly assignments will be announced every Friday, and each will be graded out of 20 points. Submitting homework regularly and on time is essential for successful completion of the course.
Exams There will be three quizzes throughout the term, focusing on grammar and vocabulary, administered by the instructor during class. These quizzes will count toward the final grade, and their dates are specified in the course schedule.
