Objectives of the Course At the end of the semester each student will,
1. Find and answer any questions about his / her thesis.
2. Learn how to determine a sociological issue or case through sociological thinking.
3. Be able to write a research proposal about a sociological subject and have knowledge about sociological methods
4. Listen to relevant academicians, experts and postgraduate researchers, see different perspectives and develop their ability to look at issues critically and in a multidimensional way.
5. Learn how to revise and improve their research by taking comments, suggestions and criticisms about the subject by presenting their research.
6. Develop skills in both sociological academic critical thinking and application of this approach in research.
Course Content The aim of this course is to develop thesis about the research topics of the undergraduate students, to discuss in an interactive way, to research different approaches about the topics and to strengthen the thesis topics and researcher aspects with the comments and criticisms taken. First of all, the students will be introduced to the ways and methods of sociological through the shared academic experiences of faculty members and guest speakers and to choose a related topic and develop a research question and suggestion. Based on this research question, the existing literature will be searched and the methodological methods to be used will be discussed. It is important that each student taking this course develops both sociological critical thinking and application skills in researching these approaches. In this way, students will complete the thesis period with a well-structured thesis proposal, research question, possible methodological approaches and a certain literature knowledge and will have a more efficient thesis writing process.
